Overview:
Performs a variety of mortgage loan processing and underwrites residential mortgages. Performs a variety of administrative functions in support of the originators in conformance with established Bank policies, procedures and objectives. Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.
Responsibilities:
* Processes residential mortgage loan applications. Receives applications, prepares required disclosures, orders various supporting documents such as credit reports, flood and title orders.
* Analyze individual files for income, appraisal and required documentation for qualifying ratios using established guidelines prior to submission to Desktop Underwriter.
* Receives and reviews documentation for accuracy and prepares loan files. Underwrites residential loan applications within a limited scope of authority. Makes judgments on credit worthiness and recommends approval or denial to underwriter for loans outside of authority.
* Signs off on all terms and conditions on commitment letters.
* Generates required documentation, including commitment letters, attorney instructions, and various forms.
* Keeps abreast of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to consumer rights, nondiscrimination, fair credit reporting, HMDA, etc. Attends relevant courses and seminars. Answer telephone and responds to customer or related inquiries within scope of authority and expertise. Processes loan advances and deposit mortgage funds advanced to closing attorneys.
* Prepares closing instructions, forms, and coordinates closing with the law firm. Performs a variety of general ledger activities, e.g., posting of fees, balancing of fee accounts, deposits mortgage funds advanced to closing attorneys.
* Assists in the training of less experienced processors.
* Refers sales opportunities to other departments or bank affiliates in support of established objectives.
* Ensures full compliance with the Bank s Information Security Policies and Procedures.
* Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.
* Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
Requirements:
* High School diploma.
* Three to five years loan processing experience and related areas including knowledge of secondary market requirements.
* Good word processing, analytical and PC skills. Must be detail oriented.
* Demonstrated organizational, customer service and communications skills.
* Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
