Job Description

This is a senior position as a Gartner analyst in the IT Service Provider Technology research organization, specifically covering Human Resource Business Process Outsourcing (BPS) and other BPO markets. The candidate must be able to analyze markets and write and present objective, thought provoking and actionable client advice targeted to senior level clients. These responsibilities will include the description of current and future market trends and support of market share estimates and forecasts. The job-holder will analyze the US and global markets for the Business Process Outsourcing services market at large, with heavy emphasis on the HR BPO space (i.e. payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, learning services and personnel administration). In addition, the job-holder must maintain broad knowledge of supply and demand trends and disruptions in the Business Process Outsourcing marketplace and their implications for service providers and buyers. Based on this research, the job-holder will advise providers on their market and competitive strategies, opportunities for growth, and supply/demand trends. The job-holder will also be a core member of the broader IT Services Group and will collaborate with colleagues to further Gartner s views on the direction and prospects for the IT services market. There will also be active participation in Gartner s sales process and consulting engagements.

A successful candidate must have a firm grasp of the HR BPO services market and the forces influencing its future. The ability to articulate and help drive a future view, within Gartner and with clients, is very important to this role and a key expectation of the job holder. The job-holder will also develop and publish futuristic and compelling scenarios and recommendations covering the BPO services market all in the context of a rapidly evolving technology and business environment. High level client contact is an essential component of this role. This contact will be a combination of one to one interactions in person or via email or phone and one-to-many interactions via presentations, blogs and webinars. Exceptional time management and written and verbal communications skills are required. There are quality measurements to the position focused on timely client service and research deliverables, client interest in research content, collaboration as well as productivity targets. Extensive travel may be required (up to two weeks per month) depending upon client demand.

Job Requirements

This is a Research Director position for an extremely capable candidate and requires that the person be conversant with the BPO services marketplace, particularly Human Resources BPO. The candidate is required to understand the BPO services lifecycle, how competition is structured and differentiated, and how the BPO services market is evolving. The candidate should have a general understanding of HR processes, with special emphasis the competitive dynamics of that segment. Working familiarity and conversant knowledge of HCM software technologies and their role in delivering HR BPO as well as shaping the competitive landscape of the market is a plus We anticipate the candidate will work with more experienced analysts but he or she must have sufficient expertise to hit the ground running in advising service providers on their BPO offerings, strategies and growth opportunities. It is important that the candidate has a vision for how BPO services will evolve. It is required that the candidate is conversant with both current and evolving trends in BPO services, including BPU and cloud-based business processes. Statistical acumen, specifically for the purpose of market forecasting, is a must.

The candidate should come preferably from a senior position within a BPO services provider or alternatively from a senior position researching the BPO services market for providers or investors.

Strong writing and presentation skills are pre requisites for this position. The candidate must be a strategic thinker with solid market and technology expertise, able to efficiently multitask, and be able to deliver high quality targeted advice on time through a variety of media. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a self-motivated manner but within a collaborative team environment. International experience is a plus.
