SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Data Warehouse (DW) Developer will be an integral member of our newly-established Business Intelligence team. The Sr. DW Developer will work alongside the Lead DW Developer in delivering SQL Server data warehouse assets, including relational database objects, OLAP cubes, and ETL packages for use by the Turbine Organization. While reporting to the BI Director, this role will work closely with the BI team members, the IT organization, as well as information consumers throughout Turbine. Day to day activities include requirements analysis, design and development of SQL Server database objects, SSAS cubes, and SSIS packages. Documentation of solutions and knowledge transfer are key facets of this job. This person will share responsibility for data warehouse and BI system maintenance with the rest of the team.

This is a hands-on technical role which works in conjunction with the rest of our experienced BI and IT teams. A firm grasp of data warehouse concepts, and proven experience in a SQL Server data warehouse environment, including OLAP, are critical. Experience with an integrated BI suite such as Cognos, Business Objects or Microstrategy is very useful. We are a small, dynamic team; a willingness to be flexible and take on additional duties from time to time is expected.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Participate in the design and development of the Turbine data warehouse, including relational and OLAP data structures as well as ETL processing.

* Participate in requirement gathering, development, documentation and ongoing administration of the systems.

* Involvement in the implementation of business intelligence tools, including metadata definition and testing.

* Participate in enterprise-wide projects to support Turbine initiatives that may have BI involvement.

* Share on-call responsibility with the rest of the BI team, including responding to issues with daily data warehouse ETL processing.

* Adhere to proven, reliable systems development lifecycle methodologies.

* The DW Programmer Analyst has responsibilities across multiple products and teams. Priorities will be set by the BI Director; however the ability to multi-task and manage time is essential.

* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the BI Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

* At 5-7 years as developer or programmer/analyst in a business intelligence or other analytics organization.

* Demonstrable knowledge of software engineering best practices and systems development lifecycle methodology.

* Strong SQL skills, preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server Environment.

* Hands-on experience with SQL Server Analytical Services (SSAS) including MDX expressions.

* Experience with one or more web-based BI tool sets (Cognos8, Microstrategy, etc.)

* At least 5 years experience with MS SQL Server Integration Services and/or DTS, preferably in a data warehouse

* Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) capacity.

* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

* Strong organizational skills.

* Flexible, able to shift direction with the demands of the business and juggle competing priorities.

* Able to work in a fast-paced, highly creative environment where growth will be achieved largely through creativity, high integrity, reasoned and thoughtful judgment.
