Come join a friendly and diverse clinical team that provides quality care! Community Healthlink (CHL) is looking for a relief (0-20 hrs/wk) residential counselor in Worcester.

Safe Haven is a transitional housing program servicing homeless, mentally Ill adults who also have a substance abuse disorder in the Worcester area that is staffed 24/7. Our goal is to work with our residents to get them the treatment they need and get them back into the community. All referrals come from CHL’s Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Program, who we work closely with to help our residents succeed

If you are looking to give back to the community and help others, this relief residential counselor position maybe the one for you. A relief residential counselor can work 0-20 hours a week depending on the program’s need. In this flexible position, there are no set shifts, and staff are scheduled or called as needed to cover empty shifts. This gives you the opportunity to help others without the commitment


  • Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop respectful interpersonal relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skill
  • Assist with intake processes.
  • Provide supervision for clients while on unit.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments as required.
  • Assist clients and HOAP case managers with researching placement and benefit options
  • Assist clients and HOAP case managers with applying for and securing housing and benefits
  • Assist with and contribute to multi-disciplinary planning.
  • Assist in the care and treatment of substance abuse disorders.
  • Run daily groups that are related to substance abuse recovery and accompany clients to meetings within the community.
  • Working with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, grocery shopping/carrying groceries into the kitchen, bedroom upkeep, laundry to include carrying to and from washer/dryer, yard work, and other moderate housekeeping duties.
  • Must be able pass required trainings including Medication Administration Program (MAP), CPR and First Aid
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.


  • HSD/HiSet/GED required, associates degree preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in social services and/or working with program's population.
  • Must be able pass required trainings including Medication Administration Program (MAP), CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to work weekends is a MUST
  • Desire to serve others required.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and ability to contribute to team objectives required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Current valid U.S. issued driver's license and ability to provide registered, inspected and insured automobile for work related purposes including transporting clients in your own vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check
