Asst.Dir.of Residential SvcsNE - General ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Director of Residential Services reporting to the Director of Residential Services will be responsible for the residential department. This position is directly responsible (in support of the Director of Residential Services) for the overall operation of the department, the personnel management of residential staff (including Program Coordinators, Lead ABA, ABA Counselors and Overnight ABA Counselors), operational systems of the houses and clinical services operating within the residential facilities.The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Melmark New England Behavior Intervention Strategies: Policies and Procedures. This role will assist in the development of all clinical services within the residential settings. In addition, the position will ensure that all requirements are met for management staff to acquire and maintain clinical standards of excellence. Must be able to work with Massachusetts state personnel at all levels. The position will work with the Director of Residential Services and the Chief Clinical Officer to obtain appropriate licensing approvals for residential services including obtaining Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) and Department of Developmental Services (DDS) approval. The employee must have senior level clinical skills, health care management skills and the ability to attend to numerous details and understand multiple regulatory standards. The position will require flexible hours during times of program development and in requirements to assist across programs at Melmark New England. The position will require personnel management skills and will need to implement Melmark New England's feedback systems, supervision guidelines and discipline procedures. The position requires this employee to have skills in working with children and young adults who exhibit complex behavior disorders sometimes including life threatening behavior disorders. The employee must have experience working with students who have had multiple treatment failures and/or the treatment history of use of aversives, mechanical and chemical restraint as clinical interventions. This individual must be willing to work directly with students who display intense aggressive and self- injurious behaviors. This individual must have the training in behavior management, be knowledgeable of Applied Behavior Analysis and be able to demonstrate bringing applied research to practice. This individual must have the direct training and experience in implementing functional analysis strategies and design programs based on data. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks, at times under significant stress. The employee must be flexible with schedule and immediate availability. Sophisticated skills are required in Human Resources, Budget Management, Educational and Clinical Systems and Massachusetts regulatory standards. The position requires the individual to adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Guidelines for Responsible Conduct for Behavior Analysts and to the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (2002). This position is flexible and adapted to meet the needs of the students served at Melmark New England. All staff are expected to adhere to Melmark's Code of Conduct and Standards of Professionalism included in the Employee Handbook. In addition, all management/supervisory positions are expected to adhere to Melmark's Management Competencies included in the Employee Handbook. It is the responsibility of each staff member to read and familiarize themselves with the contents of the Employee Handbook and ask questions relative to the application of these standards in the workplace if unclear to the employee. Basic Qualifications Education/Training Prefer Master's level in Behavior Education or Applied Behavior Analysis or Education or Psychology. The position will accept a Bachelor level in Education and/or Psychology and enrolled in a Master's level program and have Board Certification for Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) at Bachelor's level.Certifications/Licensure Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred and must be obtained within three (3) years of employment. A valid US driver's license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements. Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and Melmark's Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program.Skill(s) This individual must have the training in behavior management, be knowledgeable of Applied Behavior Analysis and be able to demonstrate bringing applied research to practice. This individual must have the direct training and experience in implementing behavior assessment strategies and designing programs based on data outcome.Experience Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of clinical supervision within an applied community setting and in implementing evidence-based procedures for individuals with challenging behaviors.
